1999 Bridge h2o Bridge

By Rob Scott

(Atlanta, GA) The Atlanta Barefoot Club proudly sponsored its Second Annual Bridge h2o Bridge BF Endurance Relay on Lake Sidney Lanier located in Cumming, Georgia.

Held on October 9, 1999 this AWSA sanctioned event was considered among those in attendance to be a "warm up" for the longest Barefoot Endurance Race anywhere within the Southern Region.

Among the many barefoot water-skiers who have competed in the clubs past tournaments, some were noted saying, "long and grueling, that’s what I love".

The Annual Bridge h2o Bridge is a barefoot water-ski endurance 5 man relay on Lake Sidney Lanier that runs from Browns Bridge to Clarks Bridge, separated into two counties along the Chattahoochee River.

This open and unprotected waterway exposes the challenger to many different types of water conditions.

From glassy waters to 20 mph winds, there’s never a certainty for what a barefooter may foot across.

If you have ever footed in a "controlled" environment then you certainly won’t want to miss this.

The Second Annual Bridge to Bridge brought 35 barefooters from nearby neighboring states such as Florida, North and South Carolina.

Among them were world top contenders like Keith St. Onge, Matt Wright and Phillip Damuth.

The clubs next BF Tournament Relay will be April 1st, 2000 titled the "Dam to Bridge" race.

This event is twice as long in distance and is expected to draw back all thirty-five, plus many more.

We hope to see YOU there among them.
